Serve Day returns Saturday
The 6th annual Serve Day will return Saturday with hundreds of volunteers banding together to better their community.
The day will kick off with breakfast and a pep rally at the Depot at 7:30 a.m., with organizers recommending arrival around 7 a.m.
Crowds will don their red t-shirts and converge on Railroad Street before separating for the day of service.
Since 2019, Serve Day has been a cornerstone of the community, offering numerous opportunities for residents to engage in service projects throughout the city.
In years past, the event has been an opportunity to improve schools, beloved community sites and other areas in need of attention. Using the day’s eager volunteers, efforts can focus on several service projects throughout the city.
This year, 12 organizations have signed up to participate, with between 250-300 volunteers expected to participate, according to volunteer coordinator Jenny Denton.
Volunteers will be assisting schools, community sites, and other areas in need.
Denton said most of the volunteers know the projects they will be working on, but people are welcome to show up Saturday morning and join in without preregistering.
