Special to the Enquirer
Calling all runners! To kick off the week of festivities leading up to Depot Days, there will be a ‘Strengthening the Heart of Hartselle’ 5K race Sept. 14 at 7 a.m.
The goal is to raise funds to support heart health initiatives in Hartselle. By participating in the race, runners, walkers and supporters will contribute to vital community health programs and resources that promote cardiovascular well-being.
Registration is now open and costs $30. The race is open to people of all ages, though minors under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign a liability waiver. Participants should be in good health and prepared for the physical demands of a 5K.
On race day, participants will need to pick up their race packets at the Grady and Margie Long softball fields, providing photo identification for verification. The race will begin and end at the softball complex. Bicycles, roller skates, and other wheeled devices are prohibited, although strollers and wheelchairs are allowed. Pets and personal audio devices are also not permitted on the course to ensure safety and minimize distractions.
Medical personnel will be available throughout the event, and participants are encouraged to consult their physicians beforehand. Any participant experiencing difficulties should alert the nearest volunteer or medical staff immediately. Official timing will be provided, and participants must wear their assigned race bibs with timing chips. Race results will be available on the event’s website and at the venue.
Awards will be given to the top finishers in various age categories, with all participants receiving a finisher’s medal.
The race will proceed rain or shine; however, in the event of severe weather or emergencies, it may be postponed or canceled without refunds.
