Priceville falls to Lawrence County in final minute

Priceville falls to Lawrence County in final minute

The Priceville Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaking 36-33 game on the road at Lawrence County last Friday night. The Bulldogs battled with the Red Devils for four quarters before falling in the final minute.

Priceville jumped out to a 14-0 lead with two Sheldon Graham touchdown passes. The first was a 10-yard pass to Brody Collins, with the second being a 50-yard connection with Urijah Burnham.

After Lawrence County scored to make the score 14-8, Priceville’s Colton Madewell ran for a 10-yard touchdown to push the lead to 21-8 with less than two minutes left in the first half. The Red Devils scored on their next possession to make the score 21-16. They followed that up with a field goal to make the score 21-19 heading into halftime.

The second half had five lead changes between the teams. Lawrence County opened up the third quarter with a touchdown to take their first lead of the game, 26-21.

The Bulldogs responded with a Bronson Carroll one-yard touchdown run on their next possession to retake the lead, 27-26.

The Red Devils retook the lead with a 35-yard field goal making the score 29-27.

With three minutes left in the game, Priceville’s Madewell ran for a 25-yard score, giving the Bulldogs a 33-29 lead.

The final lead change came with less than a minute to go when the Red Devils scored to go up 36-33. The Bulldogs final drive ended with an interception, sealing the victory for Lawrence County.

Priceville (2-6, 1-4) will host Russellville (6-2, 4-1) in their final region matchup.

Hatton 34, Danville 28 Danville fell 34-28 on the road at Hatton to fall to 2-6 overall and 1-6 in region play.

Danville’s Jace Glenn finished with two touchdowns, while Ben Ellenberg and Jacobie Batts each had a touchdown.

Danville steps out of region play with a trip to St. John Paul II on Friday.

Douglas 34, Brewer 28 The Brewer Patriots came up short in their 34-28 loss to Douglas in their 5A Region 7 matchup. With the loss, the Patriots fell to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in region play.

The Eagles jumped out to a 20-0 lead before Brewer scored a touchdown to cut the lead to 20-6. The teams traded then traded scores with Douglas leading 27-12. The Eagles added another score to take their largest lead of the game, 34-12.

Brewer scored two late touchdowns to cut the lead to 34-26 but was unable to add anymore points in the 8-point loss.

Brewer will travel to Sardis (2-6, 1-4) on Friday for their final region game.
