Carol Edwards Wilson grew up primarily in Flint, Alabama. She loved her husband of 45-plus years, her daughter, Christy, and her grandson, Logan dearly. She also loved horses and dogs. Carol started her Law enforcement career in Atlanta, Georgia and worked from 1975-1978. She met her husband during that time and with both working in law enforcement, their relationship grew and they married in 1978. When they moved to Falkville, her husband was Police Chief and Carol was his number one sidekick, partner and dispatcher. They had a base radio at heir home, which was a step back in time. They were the team and the radio was dispatch. Carol’s favorite tactic was to rack a shotgun to gain control of situations. She loved Law enforcement primarily for the chance of helping others. No matter what the danger, she was brave to a fault.
Carol was hired by the Falkville City Council for School Traffic duties from 1981-83. She also ran Rackaway Stables in Massey from 1984-89. Her presence in Falkville will always be remembered with her nickname,”BabyBird.” She had strength and character that could not be denied. She made her mark in Law enforcement during a time when female officers were not the norm.
Carol passed away following a long illness resulting in her extended stay, since January of 2019, in Summerford Nursing Home. Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Jeff Wilson; and brothers, Bill, Jim, and Don Edwards.
Survivors include her husband of more than 45 years, Bob Wilson; daughter, Christy Griffin (Ricky); grandson, Logan Elliott.
