Welcoming the new year in our schools
Dr. Brian Clayton
Superintendent
Hartselle City Schools
As the holiday season winds down and a new year begins, our schools are buzzing with excitement and opportunity. The start of the second semester is a time of renewal—a chance for students, teachers and families to refocus, set new goals, and make the most of the months ahead.
I hope the holiday break provided your family with time to rest, reconnect and recharge. Returning to school after the Christmas season is always a special time, as our halls fill with the energy and optimism of students ready to learn, explore and grow.
The new year offers us an opportunity to build on the strong foundation we’ve established in the first semester. Our teachers and staff have been working hard to create engaging lessons, meaningful projects, and activities that will challenge and inspire every learner. Whether your child is in kindergarten or preparing for graduation, we are committed to helping them succeed and thrive.
This semester also brings new programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student experiences. From expanding extracurricular activities to strengthening our support services, we’re investing in ways to ensure every child feels connected and valued. I encourage families to stay involved—whether by attending school events, volunteering or simply checking in regularly with your child’s teachers. Together, we can make a difference in their academic journey.
As we dive into this next chapter, let’s embrace the possibilities of a fresh start. Encourage your children to set achievable goals for themselves, whether it’s improving in a specific subject, joining a new club, or practicing kindness in their daily interactions. A small effort each day can lead to significant growth over time.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making our schools a place where students can excel. Your support, enthusiasm and engagement are essential to the success of our community. Let’s make 2024 a year to remember, filled with progress, achievements and moments of joy.
On behalf of our teachers, staff and leadership team, I wish you a happy and healthy new year. Here’s to an incredible second semester and all the possibilities it holds.
