Hello from the William Bradford Huie Library of Hartselle! One of my favorite things is when people recognize me when I am out and about in our community and ask me questions about the library. I am always willing to talk about our library! I believe it to be one the best resources in Hartselle and love to share what our library has to offer. I want to address a couple questions that people have asked me recently in case others are looking for those answers as well.
First, I have had several parents ask me if we provide tutoring for ACT testing. Although we do not provide tutoring for any standardized testing, we do have Learning Express Library through Alabama Public Library Service. The Learning Express Library is a free online resource that offers ACT Test Preparation eBooks, ACT test tutorials, and practice tests. It can be accessed through the Alabama Public Library Service website by clicking on “Resources.” Learning Express Library is an incredible resource offering tutorials and preparation guides for the SAT test, AP exams, PSAT test, TOEFL iBT and IELTS tests, and college admissions essay writing assistance. However, that is not all it offers. There is career preparation, resume and job letter assistance, high school equivalency center, computer skills tutorials, and more. If you have questions or need assistance accessing this resource, please stop by or call the library.
I have also had quite a few people ask, “Are we still getting a new library?” The answer is “Yes!” Building a new library for our community does take time and planning. We are all working with architects to make the most of our space and resources to have the best library possible for our community. In the meantime, we will still offer great programming, new books, audiobooks, movies, games and digital services. We are gearing up for our 2025 Summer Reading Program and it is going to be more fun than ever! This year’s theme is Color Our World. We can’t wait to see you at the library!
