William Delano ‘W.D.’ Wray

Somerville

A funeral service for W.D. Wray, 87, was held Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 1: 00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kevin Patterson officiating.

Interment was in the West Point Cemetery. Mr. Wray passed away April 18, 2025, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield. He was born on October 23, 1937, in Morgan County to Grady Wray and Gertrude Dunn Wray. Mr. Wray worked 29 years at Fruehauf and then 15 years with Monsanto/ Solutia before retiring. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Army “Old Guard.” Mr. Wray was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Gale Flack Wray; his parents; two brothers, McCoy Wray and Whitt Wray; a sister, Martha Gravatt; and a great grandson, Payson Corrigan. He is survived by his son, Royce Wray (Katrina); a daughter, Wendy Barnard (Neal); his sisters, Myra Patterson and Judy Atkins; his brothers, Vann Wray (Susanne) and James Wray (Ann); his grandchildren, Cortney Wray, Chad Wray (Kaitlin), Kaitlin Corrigan (Joseph), Seth Rhudy (Kelsey), Kynsi Barnard, Ashlyn Barnard, Brandon Barnard, and Crystal Swindall; his great-grandchildren, Patton Corrigan, Claren Rhudy, Jett Rhudy, Miley Rowell, and Westyn Swindall; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Chad Wray, Kenneth Atkins, Randall Gravatt, Chris Wray, Seth Rhudy and Brandon Barnard. Mr. Wray’s family would like to thank the Helen Keller Staff and Administration, Mitchell Hollingsworth Rehab, Wendy Wright and Jana Deaton and the Brentwood Retirement Community, Dr. Naeini, Dr. Chenyi, Dr. Jerry Williams and Dr. Holden for all the care and comfort.
