Citizens, faith leaders gather at Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast
The Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on April 30, bringing together faith leaders, city officials and community members for a morning of reflection, unity and service.
The event took place at The Gathering, a recently opened venue on Sparkman Street. Pastors from several local churches attended alongside public servants and residents.
Mayor Randy Garrison delivered the morning’s keynote prayer, emphasizing community responsibility and the privilege of public service.

“This is the time when we pause, not just to enjoy fellowship and be with each other, but to recognize the deep responsibility and the privilege we share in serving our community,” Garrison said.
He encouraged attendees to consider how they could contribute to their community—through volunteering, seeking office or setting aside personal interests to support others.
Several pastors offered prayers throughout the event, each with a unique focus, including local schools, national leadership and global peace. A common theme emerged: a call for unity and shared commitment to building a stronger future.
HACC president Jasmine Sanderfer said the event was an example of the power in partnership.
“Working alongside our city leadership to host the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, themed ‘Building a Legacy of Hope,’ allows us to unite our community in prayer and service as we face challenges and create opportunities for the next generation.”
HACC chairwoman Christy Richardson called the event “fantastic,” and noted that such gatherings are important for reinforcing a sense of community.
“As a public servant, it’s important to take off your 9-to-5 hat and remember who you’re representing,” Richardson said.
The breakfast concluded with an a cappella rendition of “Our Father,” performed by the Hartselle High School Choir.
Sanderfer said her organization hopes to make the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast an annual event.
