    Obituaries week of Nov. 10

    Janie A. Powers

    Hartselle

    A graveside funeral service and interment for Janie A. Powers, 78, was held Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at Flint Creek Cemetery in Vinemont with Bro. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

    Mrs. Powers died Oct. 30 at her residence. She was born May 7, 1943, in Cullman County to James David Taylor and Dorothy Mae Burns Taylor.

    She attended Promiseland Church in Hartselle. She was raised as a Baptist in Cullman and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, where she attended with her mother, brother and sisters.

    She loved spending time with family and friends, was an avid gardener and loved her flowers in her yard. She took the time to decorate her home for every season and loved shopping.

    In 1994 she met and married Larry Dan Powers, which made for a happy and joyous life for not only her but all of our family. They will both be missed dearly.

    She was employed by Monsanto, in production, until her retirement.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Powers; two sons, James Thomas Dunn and Patrick Joseph Dunn; sister, JoAnn Sachs; and her parents. Survivors include her son, Herman “Peanut” Dunn (Michele); stepson, Dan DeFoe (April); daughter, Jan Wilson (Michael); brother, Billy Taylor; sisters, Pat Bedingfield (Jimmy) and Linda Elrod; grandchildren, Brett Wilson and Chris Dunn (Amanda); step-grandson, Dustin Wren; great-grandchildren, Sidni Dunn, Kane Dunn and Ava DeFoe; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    Pallbearers were Scott Bedingfield, Tojo Powers, Josh Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Austin Powers and Jacob Bedingfield.

     

    Richard Carr

    Decatur

    Funeral service for Richard Michael Carr, 60, of Decatur was held Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richie Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home directing.

    Mr. Carr, who was born Aug. 16, 1961, in Atlanta to Robert F. Carr and Vera L. Roberts Carr, died Nov. 1. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph Carr.

    He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Davis, Christy Booth (Dwight) and Becky Brooks (Gary); five brothers, Freddie Carr (Debbie), Phillip Carr (Deana), Gary Carr (Jennifer), Melvin Carr and Donald Carr (Ashley); four sisters, Nancy Bills (Jeff), Pam Squires, Jenny McGunkins (Mike) and Sabrina Brown (Jack); six grandchildren, Evan Davis, Cody Booth, Ashley Booth, Bradley Booth, Faith Brooks and Austin Brooks; and one a great-grandson, Owen Booth.

     

    Lillian Anders Collins

    Blairsville, Ga.

    Lillian Anders Collins, 94, of Blairsville, Ga., passed away Nov. 1.

    Mrs. Collins was born June 11, 1927, in Morgan County to James Dewey Anders and Sarah Ola Maze Anders.

    Preceding her in death were her husband, Ivan Collins; her parents; and siblings Inez Sims and Hoyd, Howard, Harold and Herbert Anders.

    Survivors include her four children, Jessie Kay Collins (Donnie Thompson), Ellen Cohen (Evan), Tim Collins and Molly Lovell (Jeff); six grandchildren, Matthew Lovell, Lauren Lovell, Rachael Cohen, Emily Cohen, Caroline Cohen and Hunter Cohen; and her sister, Jean Palmer.

    She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Master Gardener and an accomplished seamstress. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

    There will be a memorial service in Blairsville, Ga., at a later date.

    To send a gift in memory of Mrs. Collins, the family suggests The Gideons International or a charity of your choosing.

     

    Felicia Marlene Bayles

    Hartselle

    Funeral service for Felicia Marlene Bayles, 63, was held Nov. 5 at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

    Ms. Bayles died Nov. 1 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born July 16, 1958, in Florida to Edmond Smith Jr. and Vonzelle Hudson Smith.

    Ms. Bayles grew up in Blount County and attended the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family deeply, especially her granddaughter.

    She was preceded in death by her mother and two brothers, Jeff Smith and Enice Smith. Survivors include her father, Edmond Smith Jr.; son, Eddie Bayles; daughter, Aubrey Bayles; and granddaughter, Madison Morris.

     

    David A. Juric

    Pensacola, Fla.

    Funeral service for David A. Juric, 33, of Pensacola, Fla., was held Nov. 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Blackman officiating. Burial followed at Hartselle City Cemetery with Masonic rites.

    Mr. Juric died Nov. 1. He was born March 14, 1988, in North Carolina to Thomas A. Juric and Terri A. Norwood. Mr. Juric was a 32nd degree Mason with Scottish Rite Valley of Huntsville and was a member of the Rising Sun No. 29 Lodge and Falkville Lodge No. 396. He was a huge fan of Alabama football. David was a hard worker, and he had a big heart and loved his family dearly.

    He was preceded in death by all his grandparents.

    Survivors include his wife, Kierstyn Hussin; three daughters, Addison Grace Juric, Allyiah M. Hussin and Sophia M. Hussin; mother, Terri A. Norwood (Charles); father, Thomas A. Juric (Kathy); three brothers, Robert A. Juric (Jelsey), Matthew A. Juric (Krista) and Charles Zachary Norwood (Cynthia); and a host of nieces and nephews.

    Pallbearers were Robert A. Juric, Matthew A. Juric, Charles Zachary Norwood, Nicholas Ward and Reece Hill.

     

    Tracy Michelle Suzette Teague Langley

    Athens

    Visitation for Tracy Michelle Suzette Teague Langley, 54, of Athens was held Nov. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the Peck Funeral Home. No service was planned.

    Mrs. Langley was born Dec. 13, 1966, in Morgan County to Frankie Holladay and Jean Robinson Holladay. She passed away Nov. 1 at Athens Limestone Hospital.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Malloree Teague.

    Tracy was a wonderful wife and mother.

    Survivors include her husband, Dale Langley; three sons, Kevin Langley, Daniel Langley and Aubrey Langley; two daughters, Lauren Hogan (Luke) and Jennifer Smith (Bryce); brother, Rickey Holladay (Debra); and four grandchildren, Peyton Smith, Connor Smith, Kylee Smith and Kynan Hogan.

     

    Anthony “Snuffy” Smith

    Falkville

    Funeral service for Anthony “Snuffy” Smith, 72, of Falkville was held Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Phillip Hardin officiating. Burial was in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Falkville with military honors. Peck Funeral Home directed.

    Mr. Smith, who was born Nov. 28, 1949, in Decatur to John Charlie Smith and Ruth Coffey Smith, died Nov. 3 at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Charlotte Brett.

    He is survived by two daughters, Beth Blackwood (Jeremy) and Katie Smith (Will Steel); a brother, Keith Smith (Marsha); and four grandchildren, Hunter Franks, Dillon Franks, Flint Smith and Clara Steel.

    Pallbearers were his classmates from the 1968 class of Falkville High School.

     

    Traci Maxwell Ager

    Somerville

    Traci DeAnn Maxwell Ager, 48, passed away Nov. 4 at her residence in Somerville. The funeral service was held Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Interment was at Antioch Cemetery in Somerville. Brother Tom Larkin officiated the service.

    Traci was born on March 15, 1973, to Bobby and Mary Fowler Maxwell in Morgan County. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. Traci was fun to be around and was an awesome friend. She dearly loved her little dog, Doodle Bug.

    Traci is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Jackson Maxwell. She is survived by her husband, Jay Ager; her mother, Mary Fowler Maxwell; son, Payne Russell; stepsons, Gabriel Ager and Alexander Ager; stepdaughter, Anastasia Nicole Ager; sister, Cindy Lackey; niece, Victoria Lackey; and several other nieces and nephews.

    Pallbearers were Tim Bradford, Grant Landers, Austin Carlton, Tommy Earwood, Dusty Gullion and Glen Winton. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Kilgro and Charlie Wallen.

     

    James Wray Bramlett

    Lacey’s Spring

    Nov. 5 the Bramlett family lost its hero.

    James Wray Bramlett was born June 19, 1942, in Morgan County to Ernest and Marie Bramlett. He married the love of his life and sweetheart, Hazel Marks, July 8, 1966.

    Before retiring in 1999, he was chief financial officer of Huntsville Hospital, where he served for 32 years. He was responsible for much of the growth of HH during the ’80s and ’90s in what is now the Huntsville Hospital System.

    All three of his children worked(ed) at HH, which made him very proud.

    Dad was considered an Elvis “look-alike” when he was younger. He loved music, especially gospel. When his sons were younger, he spent countless hours coaching them in baseball and basketball. He held many titles through the years – son, husband, CFO, coach – but none more important than Dad and Papa. Oh, how he loved his children and grandchildren.

    He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazel Marks Bramlett; daughter, Kimberly (Bruce) Crawley; son, Brett Bramlett; grandchildren, Morgan Whitt (Todd), Hunter Bramlett (Taylor), Ember Hill (Chad), Cole Crawley, Kolton Bramlett, Landon Bramlett (Randi), Bayleigh Bramlett, Kameron Ferguson (Dylan), Kristopher Bramlett, Grace Crawley, Jeb Bramlett and Giana Bramlett; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Sims; and brother, Keith Bramlett.

    He was preceded in death by his oldest son, James Durrell Bramlett; parents, Ernest and Marie Bramlett; and brother, Jackie Vaughn Bramlett.

    Funeral services were held at his beloved church, Valhermoso Springs First Christian Church, at 3 p.m. Nov. 7. Burial followed at First Christian Cemetery. Peck Funeral Home did the directing. Pallbearers were his grandsons.

     

    Kattie Boyer

    Hartselle

    Funeral service for Kattie Boyer, 75, will be Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Mary Sue Sanford officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

    Mrs. Boyer died Nov. 7 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born July 23, 1946 in Fredericktown, Mo., to James Luther and Flora Missouri Acuff Phillips. She worked in retail management at Cato’s prior to retiring.

    Mrs. Boyer was a minister of the gospel and attended Healing Water Ministry. She loved to fish and also loved her family.

    Survivors include her husband, Wayne Boyer; one son, Shannon Boyer (Yvonna); two daughters, Debbie Perry and Lisa Hartman (Brian); two brothers, Paul Phillips and Lindel Phillips; one sister, Hazel Davis; five grandchildren, Lindsey Perry, Jessica Brown (Nate), Jackie Henry (Mike), Tyler Boyer (Laura) and Kaitlyn Sullivan (Ryan); and two great-grandchildren, Michael Henry and Truiett Boyer.
