Funeral for Verla Mae McClung, 71, of Hartselle was Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie McDonald officiating.
Burial was in Bottoms Cemetery in Athens.
Mrs. McClung died Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born June 27, 1937, in Dekalb County to Carl Hillary Allen and Haley Mae Lipscomb Allen. She was a member of Eternal Light Baptist Church and a very kind and loving person. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Gordon McClung and her parents.
She is survived by a son, Johnny McClung of Florissant, Mo.; a daughter, Deborah Kay Garrison of Decatur; three brothers, Kenneth Allen of Colorado, Springs, Colo., Granville Allen of Boaz and Charles Allen of Hamilton, Ohio; two sisters, Frances Brooks and Patricia Weathers, both of Hartselle; and three grandchildren, Rebecca Brown, Phil McClung and Regina Smith.
Pallbearers were James Brooks, Tim Allen, Greg Allen, Greg Nicholson, Joshua Roberts and Jimmy Weathers.
