Lady Tigers drop final regular season game

The Lady Tigers concluded their regular season with a loss to Huntsville on senior night this past Thursday. The loss dropped their overall record to 21-11-1 heading into the area tournament.
Huntsville 7, Hartselle 5 Hartselle jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hold on in their 7-5 loss to visiting Huntsville.
Morgan Osborn gave the Tigers their first base runner when she was hit by a pitch. Two batters later, Katie Norgard hit a two-run homer on the first pitch that she saw.
They increased their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third when Brit Godfrey singled home KJ Prater, who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.
Huntsville would cut the lead to one in the fifth inning and take the lead with three runs in the sixth inning. They added two more in the seventh to lead 7-3.
Hartselle’s seventh inning rally came up short as they were only able to score two runs. Kaelin Perdue singled to give the Tigers a base runner. She later scored on J Chittam’s double. Chittam then scored on Prater’s infield single to make the final score 7-5. Norgard finished with one hit, two RBIs and a run scored to lead Hartselle. Chittam added two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Prater had a hit, an RBI and a run scored, while Godfrey had a hit and an RBI.
Perdue took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits in six innings.
Senior night
Hartselle said goodbye to five seniors before the game’s first pitch. They include Godfrey, Osborn, Katie Gillott, Lily Douglas and Zoe Hit. Godfrey will be attending Auburn, while Osborn is headed to Motlow State and Gillott to North Alabama.
