Lockhart earns service medal

Captain Timothy J. Lockhart recently received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. The award was presented to him by the U.S. Joint Forces Command for his work as production manager and commanding officer of Naval Reserve Unit Joint Forces Intelligence Command 0286 in Norfolk, Va., from October 1999 to January.
Captain Lockhart is the son of John and Betty Lockhart of 1108 Mason Drive in Hartselle.
The award citation recognizes Lockhart for managing more than 13,511 hours of production support and coordinated the contribution of more than 7,000 days of reserve intelligence support to U.S. joint military commanders in several operational theaters. According to the citation, Captain Lockhart's "leadership and organizational planning played a significant role in meeting operational requirements prior to and, most notably, in response to the global war on terrorism."
Lockhart, who holds bachelors and masters degrees from Auburn University, served on active duty in the Navy from 1977 until 1981 and has participated in the U.S. Naval Reserve since his release from active duty.
He previously served as commanding officer or executive officer of three other Naval Reserve units in the Washington, D.C., area.
In civilian life Lockhart is the partner in charge of the Intellectual Property Group at Willcox &Savage, P.C., a 65-lawyer firm with multiple offices in the Virginias.
Lockhart received his law degree, cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1990 and graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval War College in 1994. He is a member of the Bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is married to the former Anne Hahn Magnussen of Albuquerque, NM.
The couple and their 2-year-old daughter, Margaret Elizabeth, reside in Norfolk.
