The youth group of West Hartselle Baptist Church is continuing its tradition of embarking upon a mission trip each summer. This summer's trip promises to be a challenge as the group will be traveling to Durham, N.C. where they will help build and repair homes for the needy with a World Changers construction crew.
Participants have pledged to raise the funds for the trip themselves. To achieve this, the youth have held several fundraisers over the past few months. They have delivered doughnuts, cooked meals for the church, and sold meats and pies. Now, the youth are planning a fundraiser that has never been done at their church before-a dinner theater performed at WHBC.
When you remember television shows from the 1970s, do memories of Gopher, Doc, Isaac and Captain Stubbing come to mind? That same "Love Boat" atmosphere will be recreated May 21 and 22 at 7 p.m.
While enjoying the show, guests aboard the "Love Boat" will be served a delicious dinner of Hawaiian chicken, island potatoes, salad and homemade desserts. Children's plates are also available.
Tickets are now available for $12 for adults and $6 for children. Tickets can be purchased from youth or by calling the church at 773-6086. A nursery will also be provided for children under three by reservation.
The performance is directed by Lisa Galloway, Mary Kennedy and Leah Roden.
