Nov. 17, 1955 -Earl Payne was the only successful deer hunter in a party of sportsmen who set up a three-day hunting camp in Sumter County last week. Earl dropped a young buck with 4 points and weighing 125 pounds. Other hunters included John Tapscott, Horace and Joe Roberts, Macon Hardwick, Big Bob and Bob Gibson, Jr., and David Sandlin.
Nov. 17, 1955 -John Howell of API spent the weekend in Hartselle and in Haleyville with his father, Arthur Howell, who is hospitalized there following a heart attack 10 days ago.
Nov. 18, 1955 -Hartselle beat Cullman there tonight 19-14, this being the first victory of MCHS over Cullman in seven years. These ten Tigers were playing their last game for MCHS: Don Cordar and Bobby Cooper (co-captains), Bobby Shaneyfelt, Robert Mayfield, Charles Lambert, Auburn Foote, Ike Groover, Jack Atkins, Allen Stephenson, and Joe Wright.
Nov. 18, 1955 -A daughter was born recently to Dr. and Mrs. Fred Sherrill, Jr., at Hartselle Hospital.
Nov. 19, 1955 -Johnny Cain, UA senior from Hartselle, has been appointed a cadet lieutenant colonel in the AFROTC at the Capstone.
Nov. 19, 1955 -Carolyn Johnson of David Lipscomb College in Nashville is spending the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Johnson.
Nov. 20, 1955 -Hartselle First Baptists will have an open house this afternoon at the site on North Sparkman Street where their new building is currently under construction. Those who wish to see the progress that has been made thus far will be pleased to know that there will be no solicitation for further funds at this gathering.
Nov. 21, 1955 -Charlie Quinn's Hartselle Grocery Company is buying out the other local wholesaler, Proctor and Rea.
Nov. 22, 1955 -The calm tenor of tonight's city council meeting was interrupted at one stage by a firecracker barrage that erupted just outside the front door of city hall. The main item on the agenda was a proposed ordinance regulating firms engaged in erecting tombstones at the city cemetery.
Nov. 23, 1955 -The Morgan County United Fund campaign has exceed its quota of $95,000 by about a thousand additional dollars. Enquirer publisher Jack Hoffhaus was the local fund drive leader.
Nov. 23, 1955 -A union Thanksgiving service was held tonight at the Church of the Nazarene on North Sparkman Street.
