Feb. 23, 1956 -Today is moving day for Hartselle Pharmacy which will become Strickland Drug Company as it opens tomorrow morning in its new location at the corner of Main and Sparkman streets.
Feb. 23, 1956 -A spirited spring election contest for the office of chairman of the Morgan County Board of Revenue and Control (county commission) is certain-Three prominent Hartselle men and one from Trinity are candidates-Sim L. Howell, Leonard Slate, Guy Roberts, and Wallace Meadows. Mr. Howell is the incumbent with 16 years' service.
Feb. 24, 1956 -The Garland Rollins' handsome brick dwelling at 612 North Sparkman Street has been converted into a rest and convalescent home, with accommodations for six patients.
Feb. 24, 1956 -Katherine Anne Dunaway, Jimmy Millwood, Bill Stewart, Joe Wright, Charles Lambert, Ann Dutton, Anne Hoffhaus, Saralene Bridges, Jo Beth Shipp, Betty Jo Kyker, Jenny Lauderdale, Sylvia Stephenson, Janice Templeton, Martha Stewart and Jimmy Wright-all members of the local chapter-are in Auburn this weekend for the state Future Teachers of America convention.
Feb. 25, 1956 -Bill Dorr, Enquirer writer and associate editor, has been named as one of the winners in the Alabama Festival of Arts poetry contest.
Feb. 26, 1956 -Rev. W. K. (Billy) Stephenson, a Hartselle native and former Tiger football standout, was the guest speaker as the third church loyalty crusade was launched tonight at the First Christian Church.
Feb. 27, 1956 -Fred Hammond is the owner of a new pool hall that opened recently on Main Street in the building recently vacated by Stover's Cash Store.
Feb. 28, 1956 -Prof. I. F. Stallworth of MCTS has his campus practically spotless. This is the result of the hard work done recently by his dedicated faculty and industrious students.
March 1, 1956 -Hartselle police are investigating a flurry of home burglaries and auto pilfering during the last few weeks.
March 1, 1956 -Grizzard's Caf/ closed its doors today. Ruth and Ruby's Beauty Shop will take this spot after remodeling and redecorating.
