Commission purchases tractors for District 2

Morgan County Commission voted to purchase two new tractors for District 2 and transfer the two those replace to District 4 at its regular meeting on Monday.
The new tractors, which are earmarked in the 2008-09 budget, will be purchased from the state low bid list for $97,542. The two tractors they replace will be transferred to District 4 at a cost of $25,000 each.
In another action, the commission granted permission to the City of Decatur to continue the installation of a bike trail on county-owned property located on the west side of the new Morgan County Jail.
With the consent of the other three commissioners, District 1 Commissioner Jeff Clark said he would use his personnel and equipment to dig up several small oak trees on the property and relocate them to North Park.
The commission acted on other matters as follows:

  • Accepted a low bid of $26,615 from Lynn Layton Chevrolet on a new half- ton pickup for District 2.
