Falkville ready to kick off reading program

Falkville Public Library’s hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until noon.

Make plans now at the Falkville Public Library for their summer reading program. The program will be “Many Stories, One World.” They will be held every Thursday in July at 2 p.m. Call 256-784-5822 for more information.

Chocolate Pudding

1 package of pudding mix

2 cups of milk

1/2 cup of pecans

1 cut coconut

Mix ingredients, stir well and serve in dessert dishes.

Jam Butter

1 cup of blackberry jam or jam of your choice

1 cup of softened cream cheese

Combine ingredients and mix well. Spread on toast.

Peanut Butter Balls

1 cup peanut butter

1 package cream cheese

1 cup mashed corn flakes

Combine peanut butter and softened cream cheese and corn flakes. Mix well. Roll into small balls. Serve with your favorite crackers.

Party Mix

1 package dried blueberries

1 cup raisins

1 cup chopped pecans

Combine all ingredients and blend well.

Tips and facts

• To save time in washing dishes, use plastic spoons, knives, and forks, paper cups and paper plates.

• To save time in cooking, serve foods from cans that you do not have to cook, such as pork and beans and canned beans for salads.

• Collect rain water and put it into plastic jugs and use to water your potted plants.

• The first car was driven down Pennsylvania Avenue in 1896.
