Wanda Lee Knighten Bales

A graveside service for Wanda Lee Knighten Bales, 59, of Decatur will be Thursday, July 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Raper Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Bales died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at her residence. She was born September 2, 1951, in Morgan County to Elmer Knighten and Annie Ruth Raper Knighten. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy Denise Smith; two brothers, Ray and Kenneth Knighten; and a sister, Faye Laymon.

She is survived by three sons, Shawn Bales and wife Ashley of Moulton, Jerry Bales and wife Dela and Jimmie Lee Bales, all of Decatur; a brother, Wesley Knighten of Decatur; two sisters, Betty  Jean Laymon and husband Marvin and Patricia Steeples and husband Kenny, all of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
