Thelma Wanelle ‘Nell’ Mowl

A graveside service for Thelma Wanelle “Nell” Mowl, 82, of Huntsville was Sun., Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Ms. Mowl died Fri., Sept. 16, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Rogersville, Tenn. to General Addison Benton and Lora Love Hickman Benton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harry Mowl and a brother, Earnest Glen Benton.

She is survived by a son, James Gary Mowl and wife Cynthia of Alabaster; a daughter, Thelma Lou “Sissy” Martin and husband Sid of Hartselle; two brothers, James Rufus Benton of Rogersville, Tenn. and Howard Mitchell Benton of West Plains, Mo.; three sisters, Ruby Lee Benton of Rogersville, Tenn., Annie Marie Hensley of Greenville, Tenn. and Rosa Lee Ward of Church Hill, Tenn.; a grandson, Samuel Lee Martin and wife Christy of Hartselle; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle James Martin and Kayla LeighAnn Martin.

Pallbearers were family members and friends.
