HHS closing early Thursday, Friday to begin moving

Hartselle High School is closing early on Thursday and Friday to begin moving into the new school.

During those afternoons, some students will also be assisting school workers with the move.

Also, students will be required to report to school at 8:15 a.m. on April 1, but classes won’t begin until 9:30 a.m.

Here is the statement announcing the move on the high school’s website:

In an effort to assist in our move to the new campus on Bethel Road, Hartselle High students will dismiss from classes on Thursday, March 21st at 12 Noon. On Friday the 22nd, classes will end at 11 a.m. All buses will run routes at that time. Please note that because the cafeteria will be transferring, no breakfast or lunch will be served in the cafeteria on these days.

After spring break, school will reconvene on April 1st at the new campus at 1000 Bethel Road. The new main telephone number for Hartselle High will be 256-751-5615 (activated on April 1). All students are to report to the main gym by 8:15 a.m. on the 1st. Students will receive a copy of their schedule with new classroom locations, a locker (if they have one currently), and instructions on parking and entering and leaving the campus.

Students will have time to explore the new school and find classes before first period begins at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be served and the day ends at the regular time of 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 2nd, will be a typical school day beginning with zero period at 7:20 a.m.

We sincerely appreciate your cooperation during this exciting time for HHS and trust you will bear with us as we work through this transition period. An open house is being planned and details will be released when finalized.

Also student parking at the new high school will be on a “first come, first served” basis. Those who park without a decal will be ticketed, according to the website.
