In tribute to Lucille Davis

I want to honor the memory of a very special lady this week, and her name is Lucille Davis. Lucille turned 97 Feb. 10, and she passed from this earth Feb. 21.
Lucille was a dear, sweet, God-fearing lady, and I can’t ever recall seeing her without a smile on her face. Lucille enjoyed going to church, working in her yard, cooking and being a mother to her only child, David Davis, and his wife Cindy.
Another activity Lucille really enjoyed was going to the auctions with her sister Avnell and David and Cindy.
God claimed another angel, Lucille, when He took you home to be with Him. I will remember you, my precious loved one, always.
Falkville welcomes new police officer
The Town of Falkville welcomes Sid Kendrick to the Falkville Police Department.
Kendrick was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and raised in a military family, which brought him to Huntsville. He graduated from Bob Jones High School in Madison. Shortly after leaving high school, he became an EMT in the Birmingham area. For roughly five years he served with an ambulance service in Madison County.
Officer Kendrick has a 4-year-old son named Maddox.
Kendrick stated, “I am looking forward to a start in law enforcement with the Town of Falkville and excited to serve the people of this community.”
Governor’s Office Internship Program
The Governor’s Office Internship Program is designed to provide insight to college students who want to learn more about the executive branch of state government.
As an advocate for education and former school teacher, Gov. Kay Ivey understands learning should not be limited to a classroom; hands-on experience is necessary for students to be adequately prepared for the next step in their career journeys.
Staff liaisons will provide assignments and special projects to interns in their respective areas of interest, giving them a realistic overview of routine activity within a government office. Although interns are not directly assigned to the governor, every effort is made to give interns the opportunity to observe the governor’s public activities. This is mainly accomplished through having interns attend proclamation ceremonies and press events in which the governor is involved.
The internships are divided into two six-week sessions. The first session will be held May 9 through June 17, with a deadline to apply by March 21. The second session will be held from June 20 through July 29, with a deadline to apply by March 21. Hours of the internship are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
All interns are expected to follow COVID-19 protocols.
