Volleyball notebook: Danville wins Morgan County tournament

The 3A #3 Danville Lady Hawks defeated 4A #8 West Morgan 25-18, 25-11 this past Thursday to win the Morgan County Tournament held at Priceville High School.

Danville advanced to the championship match after defeating Priceville 26-24, 30-32, 15-4, while West Morgan topped Brewer 25-22, 25-18.

The Lady Patriots won four straight matches to win the Priceville tournament this past Saturday, defeating 6A #9 Briarwood Christian (25-14, 26-24), Fairview (25-13, 25-12) and 3A #7 Geraldine (18-25, 25-22, 15-10) and 4A #9 Priceville 2-1 in the finals.

Jacey Atkinson finished the day with 88 assists and 30 digs to lead Brewer. Hope West had 20 kills, while Cheyenne Lucas added 15 kills. Blakely Faulkner had 49 digs, while Bronwyn Borden had 42 digs.

Priceville
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Lindsay Lane (2-0), Fairview (2-1) and 3A #7 Geraldine (2-0) before losing to 5A #9 Brewer in the tournament championship.

Zoey Benson had 35 kills and 18 digs to lead Priceville, while Katelyn Falciani added 25 kills. Abby Langlois had 15 kills, eight digs and eight aces and Lacey Clark finished with 35 digs. Ashlyn Johnson had 52 assists and seven aces.

Earlier in the week, Priceville defeated Athens 3-1 (15-25, 25-10, 25-22, 25-21). Benson led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 kills and 11 digs, while Johnson added 54 assists and eight digs.
