Falkville FFA shines at North District Eliminations
The Falkville High School FFA Chapter made a strong showing at the recent North District FFA Eliminations, bringing pride to their school and community with impressive performances across multiple categories.
Adriana Gonzalez earned first place in the Discussion Meet, while the Forestry Team-composed of Meggie Bramlett, Talon Payne, Kelsey Casteel, Gloria Behan and Kira Ledbetter-also took home first place honors. The Livestock Judging Team, featuring Lily Bal-lenger, Destiny Hargrove, Katherine Wood, Hunter Pigg and Jaxon Roberts, secured third place.
Other notable performances included the Meat Evaluation Team- Casen Free, Brodie Murphy and Judson Summerford-finishing in sixth place. Additional team participants included Ashten Chaney, Lily Ballenger, Hunter Pigg and Meadow Stidham in Horse Evaluation; Aubrie Lawrimore, Lily Slayton and Haley Owens in Floriculture; and Roger Hatfield, Troy Henderson, Chandler Mitchell and Jackson Warther in Small Engines.
Community members and faculty alike expressed pride in the students’ hard work, teamwork and dedication throughout the competition. Morgan native named 4-H Volunteer of the Year Congratulations are in order for Vicki Linley, who was named Ala-bama’s first 4-H Volunteer of the Year. Linley, a Morgan County native, began her 4-H journey in 1960 and has since devoted more than three decades as an in-school volunteer.
Known for her passion and uplifting spirit, Linley has left a lasting impression on the countless students and families she has touched through her work. She often speaks about the life-changing impact 4-H has had on her and her family, and how it prepares young people for successful futures.
“Anyone who comes in contact with Vicki can see the light that she emanates,” said Morgan County 4-H Agent Julianna Markham. “She uses that light to inspire others.” Markham also extended gratitude to all the 4-H volunteers in honor of 4-H Volunteer Week, recognizing their dedication to helping youth “Make the Best Better.”
Danville High School FFA Plant Sale continues The Danville High School FFA Chapter is continuing its annu-al plant sale, offering a variety of greenery and vegetables to the public.
Available for purchase at the school greenhouse are vegetable trays, including jalapeños, okra and squash. Shoppers can also find gallon containers of tomatoes, trays of petunias, hanging baskets filled with petunias and impatiens, windmill palms and 6-inch pots of petunias, begonias and mosquito plants.
Proceeds from the sale support the FFA program and provide students with valuable hands-on horticultural experience.
