Chamber to host candidate training workshop May 16
The Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce will host its Candidate Training Workshop May 16, from 8-11 a.m. at the Historic Train Depot. This half-day, hands-on program is designed to equip aspiring civic leaders with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to engage in local government—whether as a candidate, campaign supporter or informed constituent.
Open to the public, the workshop is ideal for declared or potential candidates, emerging community leaders, campaign volunteers and anyone interested in becoming more politically active in their local area.
Attendees will gain valuable insight into:
- The structure and responsibilities of local government
- How to file and run a campaign, including important deadlines and campaign finance basics
- Leadership and communication skills essential for public service
- Building a platform and engaging the community through media
- Firsthand advice from current and former elected officials
“This workshop is about more than running for office—it’s about building the confidence and competence to lead in your community,” chamber president Jasmine Sanderfer said. “We want to demystify the process and make civic leadership accessible to anyone who feels called to make a difference.”
Registration is now open at www.hartsellechamber.com/candidate-training. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
