Former resident recalls the past

I was born in Hartselle on Nov. 23, 1950. I was raised by my grandparents until I was five years old. Afterward, I spent all my free time in Hartselle until my grandparents moved to Chicago around 1960.
My grandfather was Robert Ervin McElroy and my grandmother was Sydney Ellen (nee, Moss)
My father was born in Stevenson. I know he died in 1957. His name is James Hobson Summers. I do not know what county Stevenson is in.
I was wondering if there is a way you could find out some information concerning his death and where he is buried?
I have tried Genelogy and Ancestry and they can only tell me he died in 1957.
I have been to Stevenson (to visit relatives) years ago. I know it is a very small town and I should have no problem finding info on him if I knew the name of their paper (if they have one).
I feel a lot better asking a paper that my grandparents read. They could hardly wait for the next publication. I even remember reading it as a child.
I know there are several people who have died recently in my family. One is Marvin McElroy and later his wife Laverne. I also have a great aunt who lived in Decatur by the name of Vinnie (Y) Reeves. I have no way of knowing if she is still alive.
My other two great aunts died some time ago, Lona Sandlin and Nora Belle New.
As it happens in so many families, we never kept in touch with the younger generation and now have a lot of unanswered questions.
However, no one that I know of would be able to help me with the info on my father. He died before I was able to see him.
If you could possibly send me some info, like the name of the Stevenson newspaper, it would help me a lot.
By the way, my Grandfather and Uncle Marvin were carpenters and they helped build the Huntsville Arsenal (as it was called then). Now it's one of our country's best space centers!
I'm very proud of my heritage and being an Alabamian!

I just wanted to thank the Oden Ridge news writer Venia Lindsey Bohnet for her column on Jan. 15.
She brought to print some words that I've been missing from the Hartselle Enquirer since Jack Greenhill and the minister's column no longer appear. It was just refreshing.
Thank you, and I join you in praying that America would get back to God.
