Hartselle take two of three

HOOVER – The Hartselle Tigers won two of three games in the final two days of the Hoover Invitational high school baseball tournament. The Tigers are now 18-11 on the season.
Austin 5, Hartselle 1
Zack Andrews took the loss and is now 7-2 on the year. Andrews threw seven innings, striking out six while walking three and allowing only two hits and one earned run.
Justin Youngblood led off the game for Hartselle with a single, he then stole second and
later scored the only Tiger run.
Hartselle 20, Jeff Davis 0
Seth Watson improved to 1-2 on the season with five innings of two-hit pitching. Watson struck out eight while not issuing a walk.
Hartselle pounded out 16 base hits for the game. Hunter Brasher led the Tigers at the plate with a 5-for-6 game with five RBIs in addition to scoring three runs.
David Cameron went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Chris Wiley went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs including a two-run double. Josh Walters went 2-for-5 with one RBI and Justin Hargett went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
Zack Smith was 1-for-3 and two walks and scored three times.
Hartselle 8, Hoover 2
Chris Russell threw 2 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win.
Hunter Brasher went 1-for-2 at the plate with one run and one RBI while Ja'Cote Ward went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one run scored, Ward had a two-run double.
Nick Bates went 1-for-2 while Craig Womack went 1-for-2 with three walks and scored three runs while driving in one.
Chris Kolenberg was 1-for-3 with a two-run double.
