Somerville man convicted of fraud

A Somerville man will serve 10 years behind bars after being convicted of welfare fraud.
James Shea, 58, pleaded guilty Aug. 23 to committing second degree theft of food stamp benefits by misrepresenting his household income. Because of previous felony convictions for crimes related to the distribution of drugs, Shea was sentenced as a habitual offender and sentenced to 10 years without a period of probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution.
