Man charged with arson

A Lacey’s Spring man is charged with arson in connection to a fire he set that spread to his neighbor’s mobile home. James Benson, 31, of 31 East Chelsea Circle, is charged with arson in the third degree, reckless endangerment and public intoxication. Deputies from Lacey’s Spring Volunteer Firefighters responded to a call for assistance at a house fire March 27 around 12:50 a.m. Deputies said Benson had started a fire on his property to burn an old dresser. The fire was out of control and spread to a neighbor’s mobile home. The neighbor were asleep at the time and had to be evacuated.
