A former Decatur police officer and Falkville resident pled guilty last week to charges he stole from the program he was overseeing.
Faron Eugene White, 48, was charged with theft from a program that receives federal funds. At the time of his indictment, White was employed by the Decatur City Police.
Sarah Elizabeth Richardson, 29, of Decatur, pled guilty to charges of being an accessory after the fact. She was employed as a civilian volunteer in the Decatur drug unit.
Prosecutors said White stole more than $5,000 from the Decatur Police Department. Richardson, officials said, knew of the thefts and assisted White when he fled to Las Vegas. White and Richardson’s sentencing are scheduled for July 14. White faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000. Richardson faces up to five years in prison and fines of up to $125,000.
