Agents injured in meth lab blast
Two agents with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force were injured while investigating a methamphetamine lab on Wilhite Road last week.
The agents were injured while entering the residence. The man at the home, Patrick Darin McCormick, 41, allegedly attempted to empty the contents of the meth lab into the sink. The resulting confrontation exposed the two agents to gases that caused breathing problems, coughing and choking. The agents and the suspect were transported to Decatur General Hospital by ambulance. The agents were treated and released. The suspect was also treated and then released to deputies. He was later charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance with bond set at $1 million. His wife, Christy Lee McCormick, 37, was also jailed on the same charge.
