Falkville Healthcare residents receive gifts from church group

Residents of Falkville Healthcare Center received surprise Christmas gifts from Ladies with a Focus, a ministry of Shoal Creek Baptist Church, on Dec. 3.
“Residents really appreciate receiving gifts like these,” said Tammy Sides, activities director.  “They give them a life and help make their day brighter, and they are especially meaningful at this time of the year.”
Mary Kellam, Ann LaChance and Linda Blackwood distributed the gifts, which ranged from handmade lap blankets and plush stuffed animals to flashlights and toiletries.  First, residents were invited to visit the activities room, where all of the more than 100 gifts were displayed, and were allowed to choose a gift of their choice. Later, the remaining gift items were taken to patients who were confined to their rooms.
Kellam said members of the group made the lap robes by hand, using donations to buy the fabric and also acquire other gift items such as hand soap, lotion, socks, etc.
