City agrees to manage Bethel Road work
The Hartselle City Council agreed to manage road improvements on Bethel Road at the request of the Hartselle School Superintendent Mike Reed.
At its meeting Tuesday night, the city council approved a contract that would allow the city to manage the project, which will help improve the road from the intersection of Alabama 36 and F.E. Burleson Elementary entrance to prepare for the traffic increase due to the new Hartselle High School.
Mayor Dwight Tankersley said the contract will hold the school system responsible for the construction costs and right- of- way acquisition.
In a separate matter, the city council also authorized Tankersley to pay property owners and file deeds for landowners who have already agreed to sell part of their property for the right- of- way.
