Introducing a new columnist
Sometimes things just work out perfectly. Don’t you love it when that happens?
I met A. Ray Lee when he came in to purchase a newspaper after he appeared in a recent issue. He wrote a book about his wife Effie, her struggles with dementia and how he learned to care for her in her final days. His writing won a prestigious award, so we published a story on him.
I learned more about his life, his book and his writing. He gave me a copy of his book and signed it; I read five chapters before the end of the day.
I even learned he is related to my coworker, Beth.
The more we got to know each other, the more I enjoyed our conversations. Then Mr. Lee asked if we ever needed a columnist – not knowing we have been looking for a regular contributor for some time.
I love how things just have a tendency to work out for the best.
Mr. Lee will begin this week with his column, which will feature local topics from his life lessons to hunting stories. I hope you enjoy learning about him as much as I have.
