Kiwanis preparing for charity golf scramble this summer

The Hartselle Kiwanis Club is set to host its annual charity golf scramble on June 13 at Point Mallard Golf Course. As one of the club’s two major yearly fundraisers, the event plays a vital role in supporting local children’s initiatives-and excitement is already building. This year’s scramble aims to attract up to 25 teams, with four players per team. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, and participants will also have the chance to win additional prizes through contests such as a putting competition.
As a non-profit organization, the Kiwanis Club dedicates its fundraising efforts to supporting local children and youth programs. “Most of the funds go directly to the kids,” Greg Lane, president of the Hartselle Kiwanis Club, said. The annual golf scramble and the Hartselle Christmas Parade serve as the club’s primary fundraising events.
Proceeds from these events help support a wide variety of causes, including tutoring assistance, college scholarships and donations to community initiatives such as the Hartselle Housing Authority and Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit that provides beds to children in need. This fall, the club will award four $1,000 scholarships to local students, and it recently made a significant donation to support nine school robotics teams preparing for out-of-state competitions.
Corporate sponsorships also play a key role in the success of the scramble. Diamond Pro will return as the event’s premier sponsor for the fourth consecutive year. In previous years, businesses like Peck Funeral Home have sponsored teams, including one from the sheriff’s office, and State Farm Agent Michael Holifield has sponsored the Hartselle High School boys’ golf team.
Lane said they would love to see more school teams come to play for the tournament exposure.
