    Scorchers resume winning ways

    Despite a stumble, the Torture Scorchers continue to dominate the action in the Angels softball league.
    The Bees and the Tigers fought to a 6-6 tie before the Bee-Ware broke the game open with six runs in the top of the fifth inning.
    Michelle Curtis got the pitching wins for the Bees in four innings.
    She struck out five and walked none. Kelsey Starr worked two innings of relief.
    Callie Miller took the loss for the Tigers in four innings. She struck out seven and walked seven. Tiffany Johnson worked two innings of relief.

    The Scorchers took the lead with three runs in the first and six in the second. The Babes collected their only two runs in the top of the second.
    Hensley Collins and Abby McHugh shared pitching chores for the Scorchers. Collins fanned six.
    Michelle Smith took the loss for the Babes with seven strikeouts and nine walks.

    The Sudden Impact ran off eight runs in their first at-bat. They added five in the third and played four innings of shutout ball for the win.
    Danielle Carden, Britney Brothers and Leslie Grammer shared pitching chores for the Impact, while Anna Chappell and Sarah Long took the loss for the Angels.

    The Babes scored nine runs in the first two innings only to have the 2-Intense gals blaze back with eight runs in the final two innings.

    The league leaders had to come up with a late rally to claim their ninth victory of the season.
    Hensley Collins fanned 12 batters, walked three, but allowed no hits in a complete game. Tiffany Johnson and Callie Miller were the pitchers for the Tigers.

    The Impact handed the Bees their second loss of the season with a four-run bottom of the third inning. Bee-Ware made the contest close with a three-run rally in the top of the fourth.
    Danielle Carden got the pitching win in five innings. She struck out 12 and walked three with only three hits. Kelsey Starr took the loss for the Bees after taking over from starter Michelle Curtis.

    The Tigers started with two runs in the top of the second and plated four in the third to take a 6-0 lead before the Angels got on the board with a lone circuit. The Tigers added lone circuits in the final two innings, while the Angels came up with a four-run rally in the bottom of the fiftth.
    Callie Miller, Tiffany Johnson and Haley Blackwood shared pitching duties in the win. Miller got the start and worked three innings.
    Maria Stejskal worked a complete game for the Angels, striking out nine, but giving up eight runs on 12 hits and four walks.

    The Scorchers took a four-run lead in two full innings before rain stopped play in the top of the third inning. The squads came back at a later date to finish the game, but the outcome wasn't changed.
    The Torture Scorchers added six runs in the top of the third, but 2-Intense responded with four runs. The Scorchers finished with three runs in the fourth, while 2-Intense finished the game with a four-run rally.
    Chelsea Maze, Hensley Collins and Abby McHugh shared the pitching duties for the Scorchers, while Brittney Kerr and Hannah South worked the mound for 2-Intense.

    The Bravehearts moved into second place in the Angels league standings with a win over the Bee-Wares. The win came on the strength of a three-run rally in the top of the fourth inning. The Bees answered with two runs, but couldn't force extra innings.
    Shelby Hoff struck out 14 in five innings while walking three and allowing three hits. Kelsey Starrs got the start for the Bees, but Michelle Curtis took the loss in four innings of relief.

    The Babes doubled the plate output of the Impact as they shocked their opponents with a nine-run barrage in the top of the first inning. The Impact answered with two runs, but could muster only four more in the remaining three innings.

    The Lil' Angels recorded back-to-back five-run innings to collect their second win of the season.

    Sudden Impact took the Bravehearts to extra innings and finally pulled out the win with a lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
    Danielle Carden and Britney Brothers shared the pitching duties for the Impact. Shelby Hoff worked six innings for the Bravehearts, fanning 17 along the way. She gave up two hits. Taylor White got the loss in one inning of work.

    Bravehearts: Allison Russell 1b; T. White 1b.
    The 2-Intense picked up their second win of the season and they came from behind with a six-run rally in the bottom of the third inning.
    Brittney Kerr picked up the win in four innings. She struck out eight, walked 10 and gave up five hits.
    Callie Miller and Tiffany Johnson shared the pitching duties for the Tigers.

    The Tigers sent the Babes some bad news when they handed them this shutout. Neither team put a run on the board until the Tigers lit the scoreboard with five in the bottom of the third. They added two in the forth.
    Tiffany Johnson got the win for the Tigers in a complete game. She struck out 11 and walked three with only one hit. Laura and Lisa Wauford shared the pitching duties for the Babes.

    The Scorchers collected their 11 th victory of the season as they came up with the run necessary to end their contest with the Impact in regulation innings.
    The run came in the bottom of the fourth and Scorchers' pitcher Hensley Collins delivered another scoreless inning to preserve the win. Collins tossed a one-hitter while fanning 15 opposing batters in five innings of work.
    Danielle Carden and Britney Brothers worked two innings each for the Impact.
