    Weddings

    Athcley, Giroux wed
    Holly Miranda Atchley of Somerville and Jeffrey Michael Giroux of Alabaster were wed Aug. 2, 2008,at St. Mark and Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham.
    The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rickey Atchley of Somerville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Giroux of Alabaster.
    Rev. Raymond A. Dunmyer and Rev. G.W. Atchley, grandfather of the bride, officiated the ceremony.
    The church was decorated with two large floral arrangements of pink roses, orange mini carnations, pink hydrangeas, pink lilies, daisies and greenery. Two memorial vases of white calla lilies decorated the alter in memory of the bride’s grandfather and the groom’s grandparents.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father.
    She wore an ivory satin Casablanca gown with beaded sweetheart bodice that complimented the beaded A-line pleats of the chapel length skirt and a fingertip veil edged with silver bugle beads. The bride carried handkerchiefs embroidered by her mother with the initials HG and a pin that was passed down to her mother by her grandmother with her bouquet of pink roses, orange mini carnations, pink calla lilies, and green coffee bean accents.
    Miranda Nelson of St. Louis, Mo. was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Leanna Baldwin of Somerville, Haley Morrow, cousin of the bride, of Union Grove, Chan Spraley of Peachtree City, Ga. and Amy Tatman of New Albany, Ohio.
    Bridesmaids wore strapless tea length satin Alfred Angelo gowns of seafoam green accented with espresso ribbon and carried a mixture of blush pink and hot pink calla lilies with an espresso ribbon.
    Flower girl was Ashley Ledbetter, cousin of the bride, of Lacey’s Spring.
    Ring bearer was Zachary Churlik, cousin of the bride, of Andalusia.
    Best man was Renn Williams of Birmingham.
    Groomsmen were Will Myers of Northport; Todd Rivers of Birmingham; Eric Stone, cousin of the groom, of Alabaster; and Billy Williams of Birmingham.
    Usher was Josh Jennings, cousin of the bride, of Lacey’s Spring.
    Music director was Amy Hains, who orchestrated the medley of violin, piano and flute with Phyllis Schifanella as soloist.
    A reception was held at the Sonnet House in Leeds, a Southern style home built in 1924 and recently restored.
    The bride’s table featured a four-tier square cake with buttercream icing and layers of raspberry, lemon, and strawberry gel filling accented with a latticework pattern, swirls, pearls, swiss dots, and a Swarovski crystal G cake topper along with flowers of pink roses, orange mini carnations and pink calla lilies. Seafoam and espresso personalized napkins along with pearl accented champagne flutes and a monogrammed champagne bucket accented the bride’s table.
    The groom’s table featured a three-tier square chocolate cake with peanut butter and chocolate fudge icing with an orange and blue AU cake topper. Photos of the bride and groom at Auburn and with Aubie accented the table.
    Wedding director was Dana Brindley- Bennett.
    Program attendant was Michelle Ledbetter, cousin of the bride, of Lacey’s Spring.
    After a honeymoon trip to Sandals Grande St. Lucian, St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Northport.
    The couple was honored at several prenuptial events:
    Card, McKenzie wed
    Lauren Elizabeth Card of Fort Worth, Tex. and Rhett Madison McKenzie of Fort Worth, Tex. were wed July 12, 2008, at Briarlake Baptist Church in Decatur, Ga.
    The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Eddie Card of Lilburn, Ga., formerly of Decatur. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne McKenzie, Forth Mill, S.C.
    Rev. Eddie Card, father of the bride officiated. Rev. Mike Wakefield, uncle of the bride, of Nashville, Tenn. and Rev. Lyndon Montgomery, grandfather of the bride, of Hartselle, assisted with the ceremony.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an A-line ivory satin gown with enhanced beading and embroidery. The skirt featured cascade beading of crystal and pearl and was accented with scrolling metallic embroidery detail and a chapel length train. The ivory illusion fingertip veil, custom made by the bride’s mother, was accented with scattered Swarovski crystals. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis.
    April Zizich, sister of the groom, of Nashville, Tenn., was matron of honor. Lana Card, sister of the bride, of Lilburn, Ga. is the maid of honor.
    Bridesmaids were Joanna Estep, Fort Worth, Tex.; Kristen Hoffman, Fort Worth, Tex.; Meredith McFarland, Mission, Kan.; Hannah Wakefield, cousin of the bride, of Nashville, Tenn.
    The bridesmaids wore A-line, celadon, satin gowns draped with a palomino sash. Each attendant carried a bouquet of pink roses accented with pink alstromeria lilies and white freesia.
    The flower girls wore ivory satin dresses. The banded champagne colored neckline, waistband and hem featured faux-pearl and sequin embellishments. The flower girls carried baskets of pink roses.
    Bailey Faulkner and Carley Faulkner, cousins of the groom, Venice, Fla., were flower girls.
    Michael Dodwell, cousin of the bride, Birmingham, was ring bearer.
    Scripture readers wereBrandon Greene, Atlanta, Ga. and Rachael Davis, Phoenix, AZ.
    Wayne McKenzie, father of the groom, Fort Mill, S.C, was best man.
    Groomsmen were Clint Faulkner, cousin of the groom, of Venice, Fla.; Craig Faulkner, uncle of the groom, of Venice, Fla.; Ben Glassco, Birmingham and Joshua Wakefield, cousin of the bride, of Nashville, Tenn.
    Ushers were Webb Parker, Huntsville; Joel Walker, cousin of the bride, Birmingham; and Stephen White, cousin of the bride, Birmingham.
    Music was provided by Meredith McFarland, vocalist; Rebecca Erickson, flute soloist; Kathy Hutchens, chimes; Jason Payne, organist; Patricia Wakefield (aunt of the bride), pianist; Jonathan Rogers, reception pianist; Rick Watts, trumpet soloist; and Webb Parker, conductor.
    Reception was held at Briarlake Baptist Church immediately following the wedding ceremony.
    The bride’s cake table was displayed against a canopy of sheer, ivory drapes accented by four large white columns draped in ivory illusion. The four layer traditional wedding cake of buttercream with orange filling was displayed on a silver cake plateau. The layers were accented with celadon ribbon and decorated with pink roses, alstromeria and white freesia.
    The groom’s cake was a vanilla cake with lemon curd filling and buttercream. It was decorated with the LSU logo. A picture of the groom at age 6 dressed in an LSU football uniform was also displayed on the table.
    The wedding was directed by Ann Hortman.
    After a wedding trip to Puerto Aventura, Mexico, the couple will live in Benbrook, Tex.
    The couple was honored with several prenuptial events, including:
    Dunlap, Halbrooks wed
    Maebec Hannah Dunlap of Falkville and Chad Larry Halbrooks of Falkville were wed May 31, 2008, at Falkville First Baptist Church.
    The bride is the daughter of Tim and Nancy Dunlap of Falkville. The groom is the son of Sylvia Crawford Halbrooks and the late Larry Joe Halbrooks.
    The wedding was officiated by Rev. John Crawford and Rev. Chuck Smith.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father.
    She wore a strapless, white mermaid silhouette dress with an A line trumpet skirt and slight sweep. She wore a bubble veil with layers of tulle and a jeweled tiara.
    Alyson Dunlap Ellis, sister of the bride, of Hartselle, was matron of honor. Madison Meigs Dunlap, cousin of the bride, of Decatur, was maid of honor.
    Bridesmaids were Layne Halbrooks Dillard, sister of the groom, of Decatur; Tracy Halbrooks Russell, sister of the groom, of Hartselle; Allison Wells Taylor of Como, Miss.; and Erin Campbell Miner of Cullman.
    Bridesmaids wore midnight long strapless dresses with mermaid silhouettes with a clover bow under the bodice.
    Flower girl was Addison Ceil Dillard of Decatur. Ring bearer was Larry Halbrooks Dillard of Decatur.
    Best man was Richard Todd Coots of Cullman. Groomsmen were Larry Shannon Dillard of Decatur; John Wesley Hardin of Falkville; James Andrew Hardin of Falkville; Randall Scott Ellis of Hartselle and Richard Shane Dillard of Decatur.
    Ushers were Jackson Christopher Albert of Decatur; Jonathan Miles Dunlap of Decatur; Clinton Thomas Dunlap of Decatur; Samuel Gaines Albert of Decatur; and Aden Christopher Russell of Hartselle.
    Candlelighters were Ty Brooks Russell of Hartselle and Eli Wallace Russell of Hartselle.
    Music was provided by instrumentalists Pam and Hannah Blevins, singer Larry Dillard, singer Patsy Coots and singers Shannon and Layne Dillard.
    A reception was held at Quail Creek Golf Resort following the ceremony.
    The wedding was directed by Terri Riggs. Monica Spratlin Stephens of Decatur attended the bridal book. Program attendants were Brandlyn Ann Senn of Decatur.
    After a wedding trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple will reside in Falkville.
    The couple was honored with several parties:
    Jones, Harris exchange vows
    Nellie Cheressee Jones of Hartselle and Shomond O’Neal Harris of Birmingham were married Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at Thirgood C.M.E. Church in Birmingham.
    The ceremony was performed by Pastor James Masen and Bro. Barry Brackins.
    Parents of the couple are Mr. And Mrs. Johnny Jones of Hartselle and Mrs. Joycelyn Harris O’Neal of Anniston.
    The bride, escorted by her father, wore a strapless A-line gown imported from Italy. It featured a modified sweetheart neckline and a cascading train accented with beads. She carried a bouquet of white roses.
    Christi Marrette of Birmingham served as matron of honor. Maids of honor were Xaiver Menson and Nekela Robinson, both of Birmingham.
    Bridal attendants were April Jones of Birmingham, Sheaquetta Griffin of Decatur and Shayh Harris, of Atlanta, Ga., sister of the groom. Amber Harris of Birmingham, sister of the groom, was junior attendant.
    Flower girls were Summer Cooper, Micah Odom and Sanaa Smith.
    Ring bearer was Xavier Mason, broom bearer was Jaques Jones and bell ringer was Malchexadok Cooper.
    The groom’s best men were Stan Ifierson, James Wilkerson and Stephen Gray, all of Birmingham.
    Groomsmen were Kendrick Jones of Tuscaloosa, brother of the bride, Termaine Murry of Birmingham and Alex Jones of Huntsville. Christopher Sutherlin of Tuscaloosa was junior groomsman.
    Ushers were Wendell Thomas, Phillip Bailey and Stepforne Gray, all of Birmingham, and Christopher Mason of Decatur.
    Candle lighters were Christopher Mason and Stepforne Gray.
    Andrew Strong was musician and Tonyanika Cooper, LaTiffany Groggans, Stanley Samuel, Marquita Anthony and Bridni Hunter were vocalists.
    The wedding directors were Vera Smith and Tara Ford.
    A reception followed at Rosewood Hall at Sotto Square in Homewood.
    The bride’s cake was a princess cake with strawberries dipped in chocolate.
    The groom’s cake was made in the shape of a fire truck with antique fire trucks displayed on the serving table.
    Reception assistants were Courtney Conaway, Quarneeka Murray, Tina Jordan, Tiffany Moore, Thelma Newton, Kamilah Odom, LaWanda Robinson, Tamara Perkins, Angela Reeves and LeAndria Wells.
    Bride’s book attendants were Quarneeka Murry, Jenny McFee and Kamilah Odom.
    Following a honeymoon trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple is residing in Birmingham.
    The couple was honored with several prenuptial parties:
