    James ‘Loyd’ Childers

    October 7, 2011

    Funeral for James “Loyd” Childers, 74, of Eva will be Sun., Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Nappier officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

    Visitation will be Sat., Oct. 9. From 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

    Mr. Childers died Fri., Oct. 7, 2011, at his residence. He was born July 10, 1937, in Morgan County to John Grady Childers and Oma Ester Nelson Childers.

    He was a proud member and active deacon of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. He worked as a carpenter until he retired to build birdhouses and play with his grandkids. Later in life, his hobbies included playing dominos, watching western movies and reading the Bible. He loved his church and spending time with his family and friends. He was most proud of his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and two sisters.

    He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Ann Massey Childers of Eva; a son, Randy Childers and wife Wendy of Cullman; four daughters, Bambi Holmes of Cullman, Tammy Love of Georgia, Debi Murphy and husband Pee Wee and Tina Kimbrell and husband Jim, both of Hartselle; a sister, Hazel Stinson of Eva; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

    Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
