    Community Calendar for June 21

    June 21

    The Hartselle High School Cross Country and Track and Field program will host a Mid-Night Relay and Track Team Challenge June 21 from 8 p.m. to midnight at J.P. Cain Stadium. This event will raise funds to address program needs at the new Hartselle High School. The two events will occur simultaneously. For the Mid-Night Relay, cross country and track and field team members will run laps on the track from 8 p.m. to midnight, changing out as necessary. Each team member has a pledge goal of $50 from sponsors. Donations before and during the event are welcome. The track and field team is also challenging all other HHS sports programs in designated speed events. Teams or individuals can enter for $5 per person. Concessions will be available.     June 22

    Falkville Lions Club will sponsor its annual Gold Tournament at Quail Creek Golf Resort on June 22. The fee for the four-man scramble event is $200 per team or $50 per hole sponsor. The event is the club’s largest fundraiser. Proceeds from the 2012 event made it possible to provide food and gifts for 49 needy families at the club’s annual Christmas project. The club also helped 25 needy individuals get eyeglasses, provided college scholarships and supported other worthwhile activities.     The Pilot Club of Decatur will host its ninth annual Pilot Club of Decatur Charity Golf Tournament on Sat., June 22, at Point Mallard Golf Course in Decatur. The four-man scramble will begin with shotgun start at 8 a.m. Breakfast and free driving range practice begin at 7 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon or when each team finishes. Deadline for entry forms is Mon., June 14. Entry fee is $300 per team or $75 per person. Prizes for first, second and third will be awarded in each flight. The number of flights will be determined by number of players. There will also be prizes for longest drive, closest to pin and a car for hole-in-one on two specific par-3 holes. Proceeds go to Camp ASCCA, Brain Minders, Wii Fit Program, Project Lifesaver and more. For more information, please call 256-214-8551 or 256-686-2893.

    West End Terrace Community of Hartselle is having a reunion of those who lived there during the 50’s and 60’s. Come meet old friends at Sedona’s Steakhouse in Hartselle, June 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact Sue Hill at 256-773-4435.

    Macedonia Baptist Church in the Oden Ridge community will host the King’s Messengers Quartet Sat., June 22, at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

    June 23

    Fairview: The Grace Place will host the Dog Days of Summer Sun., June 23, at 4 p.m. The event will include an obedience class, flyball demonstration, refreshments, dog portraits, paw-print souvenirs and a pet-friendly service at 6 p.m.

    Hartselle Camp Meeting welcomes Junior Hill Sun., June 23, at 7 p.m.

    June 24

    Boys ages 10-14 can participate in Hartselle Park and Recreation’s Boys 2 Men. This class will teach basic automotive, grooming, tool information, lawn care, camping basics, grilling and more. This class is June 24-28 from 9 to 11 a.m., with a fee of $10. Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive a one-day pool pass to the Hartselle Aquatic Center. Scholar-ships are available for those unable to pay. Register no later than June 21.

    Morgan County 4-H will have a youth omelet workshop Mon., June 24, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Sparkman Civic Center for $3. Learn how to make an omelet in a zipper baggie. Register by June 19.

    Hartselle Camp Meeting will have Pastor Apprecia-tion Day on Mon., June 24, at noon. Pastors eat lunch free.

    June 25

    Hartselle Camp Meeting is having a memorial service Tues., June 25, at 7 p.m.

    June 26

    Hartselle Camp Meeting is having a special missions service, Wed., June 26, at 10:30 a.m., with Missionaries David and Rachel Kerney.

    Hartselle Camp Meeting will have student night on Wed., June 26, at 7 p.m.

    Rock Springs Baptist Church, located at 525 Rock Spring Road in Hartselle is having its Colossal Coaster World VBS, June 26-28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. For ages Pre-K -6 grade.

    June 27

    Cullman Regional Medical Center’s Women First Program is pleased to offer the class, Yes Ma’am… A young ladies guide to etiquette for girls ages 9-11, for a cost of $50 for children of WomenFirst members and $70 to others, June 27-28 and July 11-12, Thur. and Fri., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with lunch and snacks provided.     Hartselle Camp Meeting is having a children’s recognition service on Thur., June 27, at 7 p.m.

    Pattillo Street Church of God at 1211 Pattillo Street in Hartselle, will conduct vacation Bible school on Sat, July 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. “Our Faith Is Over the Top” will be the theme. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

    June 29

    New Center Baptist Church will have its Independence Day Praise Celebration and Fundraiser June 29. Swamp John’s will serve dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. The Fellowship Quartet and the Living Light Band will sing from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a variety of things going on all afternoon, so bring your lawn chairs. A great fireworks display will end the event. All proceeds will support the church’s mission trip to Guatemala in October, where the church will build a house and minister to children in the area.

    June 30

    Fellowship Quartet will have a singing at Southwest Baptist Church, located at 1705 Ridgedale Drive SW in Hartselle, June 30 at 5 p.m. For more information, call 256-773-5994. Bro. Dewitt Crowe is the pastor.

    July 1

    Co-ed and men’s softball league registration will begin July 1 through Aug. 2 with games beginning Aug. 12. The team registration is $425. Call Sparkman Civic Center for more details.

    July 2

    The Falkville Public Library will kick off its Summer Reading Program with story time, checking out books and materials, crafts and refreshments at 2 p.m. in the Falkville Town Hall courtroom.

    July 4

    The Spirit of America Festival will be Thur., July 4, beginning at 4 p.m. at Point Mallard Park in Decatur. Activities include a children’s bike parade, live stage entertainment, a children’s area, Boy Scout celebration arena, Spirit of America awards ceremony, Miss Point Mallard Pageant and of course the Spirit of America fireworks display, at 10 p.m.

    July 9

    The Morgan County Extension Office is hosting a Babysitting 101 class Tues., July 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. Learn the basics of babysitting, diaper changing, feeding, games to play with children and what to do in an emergency. This is not a Red Cross certification class and there is no fee.     July 11

    The CBD Design Review Board July meeting, if needed, will be scheduled for July 11 at 5 p.m. due to the July 4 holiday. Submittals will be due by June 27.

    Hartselle Parks and Recreation will host family movie night in Sparkman Park for free. Just bring a lawn chair and snacks, or purchase from concessions. The Tom Hanks classic “Big” will be shown July 11 at dusk at Pavilion 4. For more information, call 256-773-2581.

    Helen Steabutzel will present the Falkville Public Library Summer Reading Program on “Worms and Composting” at 2 p.m. at the Falkville Town Hall courtroom.

    July 12

    Sparkman Civic Center will host a night of fun and games for kids 5-12 years old during its FUN-tastic Friday on July 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Parents can plan a fun evening out and drop the kids off for a $10 fee. Register by July 8 to reserve your space. Snacks will be provided.

    Body Quest will be Mon., July 12, through Thur., July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at Sparkman Civic Center. Body Quest is a four-day workshop with the goal to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, make physical activity jazzy, enhance sleep, hygiene and encourage family engagement, all with the help of an Apple iPad. Register by Mon., July 5.

    July 13

    Cullman Regional Medical Center is having a Prepared Childbirth Class Sat., July 13, from 8 a.m. to noon. Mom’s support person is encouraged to attend.The cost is $25 per couple or $20 per couple for WomenFirst Members and FREE to Medicaid patients.     CRMC Prenatal Breastfeeding Class is also Sat., July 13, after Childbirth class from 1-3 p.m. Both classes are held in CRMC’s Depot Room, in the Community Education Center in Professional Office Building 2 (POB 2). You are not required to attend the Childbirth Class in order to attend the Breastfeeding Class. Cost to attend the Breastfeeding class is $10. Mom’s support person is encouraged to attend.     July 18

    Hartselle Parks and Recreation is hosting Grandpa’s Got Talent July 18 at 10 a.m. at Sparkman Civic Center. We are looking for singers, storytellers, dancers, yodelers, kazoo players and any other talented guys with grandchildren. Prizes will be given and its free to sign up. Register at your local senior center or at Sparkman Civic Center by July 15.

    Cook’s Pest Control will conduct the Falkville Public Library Summer Reading Program on “Underground Animals.” The event begins at 2 p.m. in the Falkville Town Hall courtroom.

    July 19

    Hartselle Parks and Recreation will have its annual princess party at Sparkman Civic Center on July 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for ages 5-8. We will play games, make tiaras, play make-up and have “tea” at noon, so wear princess attire. Cost is $10. Please register by July 15.

    July 20

    Hartselle Parks and Recreation will sponsor its annual luau at Hartselle Aquatic Center July 20 from 8 -10 p.m. There will be special music, tropical decorations, exciting games and Hawaiian leis for everyone. Cost is $5. Season pool passes will not be honored during the luau.

    July 24

    Morgan County 4-H is hosting a cake-decorating workshop at the Morgan County Extension Office on Wed., July 24, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Registration deadline is July 9, class is $6. Students will learn basic cake decorating and take home the beautiful cake they decorated.

    July 25

    The Falkville Public Library concludes the Summer Reading Program with Vulcan Materials presentation of their “Fossils” show at 2 p.m. at the Falkville Town Hall courtroom. Participants will turn in their reading totals and prizes will be given. Youth, parents and program leaders will have a pizza party following the program.

    July 29

    The annual Hartselle AYSO clinic will be held July 29 through Aug. 2. For more information, call Sparkman Civic Center at 256-773-2581.

    Aug. 8

    Sept. 12
