    Belles softball update

    Smash is off to a good start in the Belles division (13-15) of the Hartselle Dixie Softball League with a 4-1 record through games placed April 19-May 15. Havoc holds down second placed with a 3-2 mark, the Titans are third at 2-3 and Kraze brings up the rear with a 1-4 record. Game recaps follow:
    Smash 5, Havoc 1
    Callie Shedd doubled and knocked in two runs for the winners. Olivia Golden doubled and Lindsey Romager, Amber Lampkin and Taylor Stephenson each singled.
    Mary Emily Greenhill scored Havoc's only run after tripling and going home on a fielder's choice ground ball by Ashley Bonner. Katie Salverson and Kelsey Bonner each singled.
    Brianna Riley was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and fanning two batters in five innings. A Bonner was the loser. She allowed three runs on four hits and walked one in two innings.
    Kraze 6, Titans 5
    Leah Robinson led Kraze with a homerun and single and knocked in two runs. Laken Hamilton, Whitney Byford and Tyler Nance each singled. Ashton Pennington paced the Titans with a 3-RBI triple. Raeshaun Jones added a double and Abby McHugh, Savannah Huey and Hannah South each singled. Hamilton was the winning pitcher. She allowed five hits, struck out four and walked five in five innings. McHugh was the loser. She gave up five hits, walked three and struck out eight.
    Smash 8, Kraze 1
    Riley pitched a no-hitter for Smash. She struck out five and walked one in five innings. Hamilton was the loser. She worked three innings, allowing seven runs on five hits while striking out three and walking four. Ali Staudt paced the winners at the plate with a pair of singles. T. Stephenson had a double and Golden, Megan Stephenson, Brianna Riley and T. Stephenson each singled.
    Havoc 7, Titans 1
    Greenhill paced the winners with a 3-RBI double. Mary Beth Moore also had a double and Chelsea McCurdy, K. Bonner Mary Beth Moore Elizabeth Pheny and A. Bonner each singled. McHugh had a single for the Titans. Bonner was the winning pitcher. She gave up one hit, struck four five and walked one in five innings. McHugh was the loser.
    Titans 8, Kraze 2
    The Titans out-hit Kraze seven to three and went on to pick up their first win of the season. Huey had a 3-RBI triple, Joy Harris knocked in a run with a triple, Allie Hill and Hannah South each doubled and McHugh, Pennington and Jones each singled. Hamilton, Robinson and Jesse Livingston each singled for the losers. McHugh was the winning pitcher. She allowed two runs on three hits and struck out 11 and walked one in five innings. Chelsea Bennich allowed five runs on five hits and struck out five and walked eight in four innings.
    Havoc 6, Smash 3
    Katelyn Hill smashed an inside-the-park home run and singled to lead the winners at the plate. Katie Gentle, Greenhill, A. Bonner and Pashion Wiggins each singled. For the losers, Romager had a triple, Riley doubled and Lampkin singled. Gentle pitched four innings and was credited with the win. She allowed three runs on three hits while striking out six and walking four. Riley was the loser. She gave up five runs on five hits while striking our nine.
    Havoc 8, Kraze 3
    Chelsea McCurdy collected a pair of doubles and a single and knocked in four runs to lead Havoc over Kraze. Kelsey Bonner and Kati Salverson each had a pair of singles and Katie Gentle, Katelyn Hill, Mary Emily Greenhill and Ashley Bonner each singled. Whitney Byford led Kraze with a triple and Laken Hamilton, Leah Robinson, and Elizabeth Russell each singled. A. Bonner was the winning pitcher. She worked two innings and allowed one run on two hits while striking out one batter. Gentle pitched the final three innings. She allowed two runs on two hits and struck out four and walked two. Jessi Livingston was the loser. She gave up seven runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking three.
    Smash 5, Titans 3
    Smash scored four runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat the Titans in a six-inning pitcher's battle. Riley went the distance for the win. She gave up four hits, struck out 12 and walked one. McHugh, the loser, allowed just two hits in five innings of work. She struck out seven and walked three.
    Lindsey Romager had a double and Tamra Lampkin had a two-RBI single for the winners. Joy Harris had a pair of singles to lead the Titans. Allie Hill doubled and Hannah Smith had a 2-RBI single.
    Smash 14, Kraze 3
    Smash banged out 13 hits on their way to a win over Kraze. Olivia Golden contributed a pair of singles and a double, Romager had a pair of doubles, Ali Staudt had a pair of singles, Taylor Stephenson and Callie Shedd each had 2-RBI doubles, Riley had a 3-RBI single and Meghan Stephenson, and Olivia McKee each singled. Robinson paced the lowers with a double and single. Chelsea Bennich, Laken Hamilton and Whitney Byford each singled. Riley was the winning pitcher. She allowed just one hit while striking out six batters in three innings. Stephenson gave up two runs on three hits in three innings of relief work. Hamilton was the loser. She allowed 10 runs on 10 hits while striking out three and walking one in three innings.
    Titans 8, Havoc 6
    The Titans scored four runs in the third inning to overcome a three-run deficit and went on to defeat Havoc for their second win of the season. Leading the winners at the plate were Allie Hill, Hannah South, Savannah Huey and Joy Harris. Hill had a double and single, Huey knocked in two runs with a triple, Smith had a pair of singles and two RBIs and Harris doubled. Meaghan Gray had an RBI single and Raeshaun Jones and Ashton Pennington each singled. McCurdy had a double for the losers and Gentle, Greenhill and A. Bonner each singled. Gray was the winning pitcher. She gave up four hits while striking out five and walking four. Gentle was the loser. She worked three innings and gave up four runs on three hits while striking out two and walking six. A. Bonner also pitched three innings. She allowed four runs on six hits while striking out three.
